Not too far from here—across the fields of time—lived one Sarah, a lovely young girl with an inquisitive heart and kind nature. Her eyes seemed to dance in excitement every time there was a story about the Enchanted Forest—the place where animals chat up and down, and the trees whisper their secrets in their ears.
On a sunny morning, Sarah decided that it was just the very day to set out on the greatest journey in her life. She took several snacks, a map, and the red scarf, which she liked most, in one small bag. Together with the dog Max, who was her best friend, they set off to seek the Enchanted Forest.
The road bore them through fields of wildflowers, over brooks where the sun sparkled in the waters, and up to the very edge of the forest as the sunset was setting in. The trees were tall, green, and golden in the sun, and the breeze brought to their ears the softest music.
Still deeper into the woods ventured Sarah and Max, only to face a squirrel of the friendliest kind who ever lived: Squeaky. Squeaky told them that the guardian of this Enchanted Forest was a wise old owl by the name of Olliver. Led by Squeaky, to Olliver’s tree they did go.
A hoot from Olliver greeted them as his starlight twinkled from his eyes. He regaled them with olden spells and secret treasures, tales for them to be good and respectful to all the creatures that popped into view. In return for their kindness, Olliver gifted Sarah a small crystal that would light her way in the darkest of times.
In their adventures, they met talking rabbits with rhymed riddles and roguish fairies who sprinkled giggles. They even helped a lost baby bird find its way back to the nest high in the treetops.
One day, while she was lying by the quiet pond, Sarah heard a soft voice singing, and she followed the voice to find a beautiful swan sitting by the pond, singing sadly. She introduced herself as Seraphina. She then shared with Sarah that she was actually locked in human form with some enchantment. Sarah, with the sensitivity of the heart and mind, took the crystal from Olliver and pronounced the indications to break the spell of Seraphina swan.
Full of thanks, Seraphina took the hands of Sarah and Max and swirled in a graceful style; the kindness had broken the spell over her. In a gesture of thanksgiving, Seraphina now led them into the very heart of the Enchanted Forest and on into a glade where fireflies sparkled in time with the stars.
With warm hearts and cherished memories of many more new friends made, Sarah and Max said goodbye and went home. The Enchanted Forest was quite the lesson in kindness, adventure, and friendship.
Then, when it was sundown, and the pretty sky had shut its pinions over the twinkling stars, Sarah would wrap in her red scarf and look out into the forest through the window and remember the magical adventure that had filled her little life with magic.
