Rapunzel

Read the story:

On a far realm amidst the rolls of hills and ancient forests, there lived a man with his wife, dear ones who dreamed of the dream. Such a dream came true on a day from the magic garden, tended by the sorceress Dame Gothel, with just a single radiant flower. This flower had the power to heal and bestow youth. The couple’s prayers were answered, and they named their daughter:

Rapunzel.

So the child grew into the most lovely little maiden; her hair grew to be several ells long, and as yellow as the sun itself. She was kindly and had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge of everything that went on in the great world outside the tower in which Dame Gothel kept her.

But the evil sorceress at heart did not want to share Rapunzel with the outside world; hence, she worked her magic on the poor girl so that no one could enter the tower except her.
Then the time went by, and the years and Rapunzel’s hair kept on growing, and growing, and growing, till it lengthened far out of the window, even out of the tower, and fell like a life-link to the world without. So, every day, she called out to Dame Gothel:

“Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair,”

and Rapunzel would lower her hair for the sorceress to climb up.

In the meantime, one day, when a handsome prince named Eugene was straying around the tower, he heard the sweet, beautiful voice of Rapunzel, coming from the highest window of the prison.

And he had followed the sound soon to know where the tower was, well hidden deep in the forest. All this time, he was just watching Rapunzel lower her long hair, and an idea struck his mind.

But Eugene’s curiosity was keen; he would not let himself go back to the tower again when Dame Gothel was not there, driven by a desire to look into the owner of that sweet voice. Taking in a deep breath, he called out the same words.

“Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair.”

To his amazement, Rapunzel’s golden locks tumbled down, and he climbed up to meet her.

Their real meeting in life was like a fairy tale coming true when Rapunzel was sitting with him and discussing things, chatting and laughing, for a long time. The walls of the tower, which seemed to be a kind of prison for her, are actually keeping a sort of joyfulness with Eugene. As a friendship ripened between them,

Rapunzel began to see the world beyond her window as a place of wonder and excitement. The secret contacts did not go unnoticed by Dame Gothel, though. She suspected that Rapunjson would visit, and so it was. She filled the girl with doubts in her heart about Eugene’s intentions. In the turmoil of both worry and internal pulling, Rapunzel gives in to the plan and checks out Eugene’s loyalty.

When he next came to the tower, she feigned indifference, and her heart broke as Eugene seemed to abandon her.

Her tears in between held the healing power of her hair; therefore, her tears were heartbroken and lost. Much later, when Eugene came back to prove his love for her, he saved Rapunzel from being held captive by Dame Gothel. During the process, he gets injured, and his wound is healed by Rapunzel’s tears. With her true nature shown, Rapunzel and Eugene fought off Dame Gothel and whatever had been in store for Rapunzel. They would be going out into the world, where they would be.

But their love and courage prevailed. Their story became a legend of devotion, bravery, and the transformative power of love. Hence, the story of Rapunzel and Eugene tells us of the fact that love does reach across towers of the tallest height and magic of the darkest kind. This speaks to the human spirit that resonates in our hearts: the power of love to reach for freedom and connection, to shape unshakeable lights on the paths that guide us through the tangle of life.

Moral: And so, the tale of Rapunzel has carried an everlasting one: True love and perseverance could win even castles. It teaches us that love, when true and deep, can rise triumphant above adversity: adversity brought about by other people or those coming from destiny.
